Who We Are
Micah’s Soup for Seniors addresses elders’ hunger issues by partnering within the community to provide direct assistance to elders in the Warm Hearth community.
Micah’s Soup for Seniors addresses elders’ hunger issues by partnering within the community to provide direct assistance to elders in the Warm Hearth community. Each month, the identified elders receive food and a social visit from our Micah’s Soup for Seniors volunteers. The food includes four soups, four breakfasts and eight other specified food staples. Monthly, nearly __ volunteers from various academic, civic, and religious groups help fill the gaps that may exist while seniors wait for their social security checks that come out at the beginning of each month. Sharing the Story outlines the ministry Micah’s Soup for Seniors has accomplished since its formation in Fall 2012.
How Micah’s Soup for Seniors Works?
On the fourth Tuesday of each month, 90 residents of Warm Hearth are visited by Micah’s Soup for Seniors volunteers. As Micah’s Backpack has done for local students, Micah’s Soup for Seniors hopes to bridge a food gap which exists for many senior adults surviving on limited, fixed incomes. Micah’s Soup for Seniors invites all members of our community who care about alleviating hunger for elders to join in the fun of helping others.
